During 2016, the LNSPS conducted “over 170 Vessel Safety Check inspections” adding to sustained recognition from its parent organization (United States Power Squadron (USPS)) for ranking in the top 10 squadrons out of over 300 squadrons and over 30,000 members in the nation in service to its community.
Our VSC Chair Person Alexander Cooper, of the LNSPS anticipates higher enrollment driven by increasing boating injuries, fatalities and law enforcement presence on the water. In addition, the population of boaters has grown every year, thus increasing demand. As Captain of your watercraft we encourage you to conduct a VSC and provide a safer boating environment for you and your families. Boating is a fun and an enjoyable sport, “let’s make it a safer one”.
We are offering (4) different VSC event locations (described below), at various marinas on Lake Norman this year in 2017. VSC are “free” - “with no reporting obligations” - “short in duration” and have arranged venues with increased examiner capacity in anticipation of enrollment reaching over 200 watercraft.
