Enjoy 1,460 acres of Mecklenburg County's largest preserve at Latta Nature Center and Preserve. It is home to 97 species of birds, 17 species of mammals, 14 species of reptiles, and 9 species of amphibians. Some of the animals that you will see at the preserve include the Bald Eagle, Wild Turkey, and foxes. Spare Time Huntersville is a bowling center that is fun for everyone in the family. It offers 40 lanes, Aztec Adventure Laser Tag and an Arcade that includes 25 different games. It is the place where getting the most strikes is a good thing. You will have a blast seeing the New Galactic Light Show! The light show comes on at night and brightens the lanes with lasers. Jump for joy at W8less LKN. This indoor trampoline park includes ninja obstacle course, 30 trampolines, and basketball goals so you can catch some air and score a slam dunk. Take this opportunity to bring out your inner child!
Lake Norman Mini Golf isn’t your typical mini golf attraction. Each hole is set up in a way that will have you work hard for par. If you’re up for another challenge, test your reflexes and agility at the Laser Maze where you must maneuver through a field of laser beams. After you get in a game of mini golf and escape the maze, stop by SAZ’s Snoballs to cool down. They are open seasonally, so be sure to stop by during the warmer months.
If you need some retail therapy or just want to get your daily steps in, head to Birkdale Village, a shopping center that brings together big-name brands and local boutique shops. Take the kids on a walk through this lovely open-air center or take them to the new splash pad, the perfect activity for a hot day. Grab a bite after you get some shopping done and catch the latest film at Regal Birkdale Stadium. Birkdale Village is the perfect place to hang out in Lake Norman (if you don’t have a boat).
Dedicated to the conservation of raptors, Carolina Raptor Center is home to over 30 species of birds (not dinosaurs) and you can see them all on the Raptor Trail. From eagles to vultures to owls, you can see for yourself how the birds interact while learning some “fly” facts. If you end up falling in love, you can join the flight team and bring out your inner Harry Potter to help train owls, hawks, and falcons!
If you and your kids aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves, sign up for a class at AR Workshop for some DIY projects. You and your son or daughter can create wooden signs, canvas pillows, wall hangings, centerpiece boxes, and much more. Display your creations in the living room so everyone can see how obviously talented you and your kids are. More importantly, it will serve as a reminder of the love and strong bond you built that day.
