No matter how old you are, Lake Norman offers a variety of things to do for the young and young at heart. From paddle boarding and playing mini golf to shopping and feeding animals, you and your young ones are in for a good time. Snapshot that moment of laughter and joy and cherish it forever. To help strengthen your bond, we have compiled a list of places in the area that are fun for everyone in the family.

1. Discovery Place Kids


Spark some creativity and imagination at Discovery Place Kids in Huntersville. They have lots of fun, hands-on experiences that are geared to encourage a lifelong love of learning. From building castles to fixing race cars, there is so much for you and your child to discover!  

2. Aloha Paddle Sports

Aloha Paddle Sports

It’s time to get out on the water and have some fun with Aloha Paddle Sports. They offer lessons for first timers and paddle board and kayak rentals to experience the lake. On certain days, you can take a guided paddle board tour to see the sunset on the beautiful waters of Lake Norman or paddle board at night to see the full moon twinkle.

3. Escape 109

Who’s the Sherlock Holmes of the bunch? Find out at Escape 109, a real-life adventure game that challenges you to solve puzzles and find clues to escape one of the two Davidson themed rooms within 60 minutes. It's a great way to build a special bond with your friends or family.

4. Latta Nature Preserve

Enjoy 1,460 acres of Mecklenburg County's largest preserve at Latta Nature Center and Preserve. It is home to 97 species of birds, 17 species of mammals, 14 species of reptiles, and 9 species of amphibians. Some of the animals that you might see at the preserve include the Bald Eagle, Wild Turkey, and foxes. They also offer two launch areas for kayak or canoe enthusiasts and a fishing dock. The Preserve offers many places to create memories with your kids.

5. Spare Time Huntersville

Spare Time Huntersville is a bowling center that is fun for everyone in the family. It offers 40 lanes, Aztec Adventure Laser Tag and an Arcade that includes 25 different games. It is the place where getting the most strikes is a good thing. Spare Time Entertainment Center in Huntersville is where friends, family and good times come together. Treat you and your kids to a fun night out on Wednesday for half off prices on bowling, laser tag and the Game Zone.

6. W8less LKN

W8less LKN

Jump for joy at W8less LKN. This indoor trampoline park includes ninja obstacle course, 30 trampolines, and basketball goals so you can catch some air and score a slam dunk. Take this opportunity to bring out your inner child!

7. Lake Norman Mini Golf

Lake Norman Mini Golf isn’t your typical mini golf attraction. Each hole is set up in a way that will have you work hard for par. If you’re up for another challenge, test your reflexes and agility at the climbing wall and Laser Maze where you must maneuver through a field of laser beams. After you get in a game of mini golf and escape the maze, stop by SAZ’s Snoballs to cool down. They are open seasonally, so be sure to stop by during the warmer months.

8. Birkdale Village


If you need some retail therapy or just want to get your daily steps in, head to Birkdale Village, a shopping center that brings together big-name brands and local boutique shops. Take the kids on a walk through this lovely open-air center or take them to the new splash pad, the perfect activity for a hot day. Grab a bite after you get some shopping done and catch the latest film at Regal Birkdale Stadium.

9. Carolina Raptor Center

Dedicated to the conservation of raptors, Carolina Raptor Center is home to over 30 species of birds and you can see them all on the Raptor Trail. From eagles to vultures to owls, you can see for yourself how the birds interact while learning some “fly” facts. If you end up falling in love, you can join the flight team and bring out your inner Harry Potter to help train owls, hawks, and falcons!

10. AR Workshop

AR Workshop

If you and your kids aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves, be sure to sign up for a class at AR Workshop for some creative DIY projects. You’ll be able to make wooden signs, chunky knit blankets, wall hangings, centerpiece boxes, and much more. Materials and instruction are provided for your ease. Display your creations in the living room so everyone can see how talented you and your kids are. More importantly, it will serve as a reminder of the love and strong bond you formed that day.

11. Frankie's Fun Park

Lake Norman's newest and largest attraction is Frankie's Fun Park! There are 120 different arcade games, multi-person hologram arena, indoor "Drop Zone" ride, bumper cars, two-story laser tag zone, 24 bowling lanes, three story kids playhouse, 18-hole miniature golf, three go-kart tracks, and other outdoor rides. There’s so much thrill and excitement to enjoy for people of all ages!
