It's almost Father's Day and there are many ways to spend this special day with all of the father figures in your life here in Lake Norman, so we compiled a list of ideas on how to make this Father's Day the best one yet! Whether it's fishing at Ramsey Creek Park or getting a hole-in-one at Lake Norman Mini Golf, there is something to make this Father's Day unforgettable!

Start the day right

Kick the day off with a hearty breakfast and delicious coffee provided by many of our wonderful restaurants. You can stop by The Fresh Egg to try their delicious brunch menu, or go for an early lunch with their famous Reuben sandwich. If you need a kickstart to your day, grab a freshly-brewed coffee from Summit Coffee Roastery. You could also give dad a special treat with a lakefront Sunday brunch at North Harbor Club! If the restaurants are crowded, you can always choose take-out and have a relaxing picnic at one of our local parks, such as Jetton Park or Roosevelt Wilson Park.

Get on the lake

For the dad that loves adventure, Lake Norman has you covered! Our area is home to a number of trails and greenways, like the Latta Nature Preserve and the West Branch Rocky River Greenway (which now connects to Fisher Farm Park), providing space to hike, bike, and run.

Kayaking

You can spend a relaxing afternoon on the water by booking a pontoon rental for the whole family or find watersport rentals like paddle boards, kayaks, and canoes at Long Island Paddle Sports or What's Up Watersports. For something a little more exhilarating, take a jet ski out from Lake Norman Jet Ski Rentals!

Have your own kayak or paddle board already? Drive to Latta Nature Preserve and launch out from one of their access areas. The North Canoe Access includes an ADA accessible launch platform in a calm cove.

Hit the fairway

For Father's Day, you can't go wrong with a round of golf with dad and Lake Norman has some world-renowned courses to offer. Skybrook Golf Club is another course open for public play with tee times available for reservation online. For a friendlier competition, find your swing at Lake Norman Mini Golf or among the 54 holes of mini golf open at Frankie’s of Charlotte. To make it more interesting, keep track of points and set a wager on who will win!

Take a history tour

If dad is a history buff, get in the car and follow our historical drive checklist. You'll find many historical sites of Lake Norman. Read the blog ahead of time so you can tell dad all about the landmarks as you pass by them!

If he's fascinated with historic buildings, venture to Davidson and partake in the self-guided Davidson Historical District Walking Tour. And then make your way to Cornelius, which has two Walking Tours of their own. Honor our local heroes either at Huntersville's Veterans Park or the Cornelius Veterans Monument for a dose of patriotic reflection.

Take a walk through the park (and go fishing)

Ramsey Creek Park Fishing

Fishing is one of the most beloved, relaxing past times of Lake Norman visitors and residents alike! Without experience or gear? Fishing tours and boats, like those offered by Fishers of Men Guide Service can 'hook' you up with a good time!

If you're just in need of a fishing rod, head to the Quest Center in Latta Nature Preserve and tell them you'd like to borrow one of their free fishing rods. Bait is conveniently available for purchase in their gift shop.

Have your own fishing equipment already and looking for something ADA accessible? Head to Ramsey Creek Park's Patriot Pier. At this park, you will also find a public swimming beach for all to enjoy!

If you're looking for some exercise, stroll through our number of beautiful parks with the entire family. Maybe scope the parks ahead of time to plan for a lovely afternoon picnic.

Take him out to the ball game!

Baseball games are a time-honored tradition between father and son, so grab your tickets to Truist Field to see our Charlotte Knights take on the Louisville Bats on June 20th! First pitch will be thrown at 7pm. Enjoy a hot dog or box of cracker jack while you spend nine innings with the ones you love!
