D9 Brewing proudly hosts the Rig Fest for the Cool Kids Campaign to help improve the quality of life and reduce the social isolation and academic loss that children with cancer experience in their time being diagnosed. The Cool Kids Campaign Clubhouse located in Huntersville provides a variety of social and emotional activities that help kids feel seen and included.

Owner Joe and Katy Kindred, are known for their excellence in culinary, but also their contributions to the community. Both restaurants have supported the Ada Jenkins Center, Community School of Davidson's Athletic Booster, and North Meck High School's Athletic Booster Clubs. Currently, their main beneficiary is the Southern Smoke Foundation in which raised funds are used to pay for essentials like groceries, clothing, and medications for the local Food and Beverage workers.

Kendra Scott, located in Birkdale Village, has recently created the Kendra Scott Foundation which commits to positively impacting society. The company has already donated over $65 million to charitable causes and will continue to do so through product collaborations, in-store events, and its latest initiative, the Kendra Scott Foundation. In its inaugural year, the Kendra Scott Foundation combines the strength of partnerships with its existing programs to empower women and youth.

 

Choplin's Restaurant

Choplin’s owners, Wes and Faith, have given back to the community. During covid when schools closed, they provided meals for students who depended on the school lunches. They also joined forces with the Watchman of the Streets Ministry to prepare personal items, snacks, and a gourmet meal for the local homeless population in what was named the Luke:14 Banquet. This experience sparked a mission that would become the basis for Choplin's to be a home for the community.

Mac's Speed Shop

Mac’s Speed Shop hosts an annual Golf Tournament in Memory of Kelli Putnam, a beloved employee. The KP Foundation is designed to assist individuals in the hospitality industry who are facing personal hardships caused by financial burdens, health issues, and unexpected challenges. They also created the Mac's Give Back Program which has helped keep many front-line heroes fed as they save lives every day. 

Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce

The Lake Norman Foundation is a charitable organization affiliated with the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce. They help support the community of Lake Norman through a variety of activities and organizations whose purpose is beneficial to those who live and work in the community. They have held events such as the Thanksgiving Breakfast 2022 where $25,000+ was raised by the business leaders from the Lake Norman YMCA Pre and After School Program. Each year, the Chamber selects a Lake Norman Charity as the beneficiary of the funds.

Members of the Executive Women of Lake Norman are successful business owners, entrepreneurs, and decision-makers. The women involved are high-caliber, well-rounded leaders in their fields who are interested in building relationships with other professional women in the local area. Currently, over 50% of the active members are business owners! They support the Hope House Foundation, an organization that helps homeless women and children of Huntersville, and the Answer Scholarship Endowment, which has helped Mothers in the Charlotte Region earn college degrees and become strong and self-sufficient. 


 

 

Local Charities of Lake Norman:

Peninsula Community Foundation 

PCF unites the neighbors of the Peninsula Community in Cornelius, NC to empower the work of nonprofit organizations. Founded in 2001, they are an all-volunteer organization that has contributed over $2 million to local charities, making an enormous impact on the communities of North Mecklenburg County. PCF increases awareness of significant needs in the local community and then brings the people, capital, and ideas together to address the unmet needs of the young, poor, distressed, elderly, and handicapped in our community.

National Charity League: LKN Chapter

The Lake Norman Chapter is a combined group of mothers and daughters who have come together to grow their community service, leadership skills, and cultural experiences. It is the 240th NCL Inc. Chapter to form in the United States.

Southern Smoke Foundation

From farmers to fry cooks, servers to sommeliers, the Southern Smoke Foundation has helped support our local workers whether it's mental health needs or unforeseen hardships. Their funds and resources have helped create the mental health program, Behind You, which provides no-cost mental health counseling for F&B workers. 

Hope at the Lake Foundation

Hope at the Lake serves as a non-profit organization that helps improve the lives of Lake Norman residents in need. Their goal is to create a community of caring by connecting donors with immediate community needs. In the past 20-plus years, the foundation has had the privilege to award $2 million in grants to more than 100 local charities. 

 

House of Hope Foundation

The House of Hope Foundation originally started with Dr. Lee Beth Lindquist, who had a dream to help homeless women and their children in the town of Huntersville. In 2009, the community was able to embark on a major renovation led by the Lake Norman Home Builders Association to construct a two-level facility to house up to 12 residents for 6 months at a time. All donations came from local businesses and the community residents. 

Bags of Hope

Bags of Hope is a local non-profit ministry that provides weekend food bags for school children in the Lake Norman area who have experienced food insecurity. They serve up to 576 children weekly during the school year and provide gift cards for long breaks and holidays.
