It's almost that time of the year again! Halloween, the holiday everyone looks forward to full of cheap scares, hayrides, horror movies, jack-o-lanterns, and of course, candy! These Halloween events are guaranteed to have something fun for every member of the family to enjoy. What better way to spend the spookiest holiday of the year near the lake?
Preschool Halloween Party (October 17)
Join Cornelius Arts Center for a fun, Halloween-filled morning with their Preschool Halloween Party! Help your kiddo make seasonal crafts, eat snacks and enjoy a kid-friendly movie to get everyone in the spirit of Halloween. Registration is free, so make sure you and your little one come dressed in your best costume! Ages 3-6 welcome and must be accompanied by an adult.
Halloween Costume Party & Contest (October 18)
Hunter House & Gardens will be hosting their very first annual Halloween Costume Party and Contest! Check out their Hogwarts themed 'Haunter' House with a light buffet and live music, and don't forget to come dressed in costume for the chance to win big with the grand prize of a flat-screen TV for Best Costume! Best Couple's Costume, Most Original and Funniest Costume also have the chance to win cash and other prizes.
Spooky Tales in the Dark (October 18-26)
Calling all ghost story enthusiasts! Experience candlelit tours in the dark through the home and kitchen house of the history-filled Historic Latta Plantation. Learn a bit about the history of the plantation while listening to first-hand accounts of ghostly tales from staff members and volunteers that are sure to make you shiver. After the tour, warm up with a cup of hot apple cider and cookies by the fire.
Kids Harry Potter Halloween Party (October 19)
Hunter House and Gardens will be hosting another Harry Potter themed event just for the kiddos! The Harry Potter Halloween Party will have sweet treats and spooky games, finishing off the night with Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince on their giant 28ft outdoor movie screen! Reserve a firepit, bring a blanket and get ready for the perfect outdoor Halloween Movie!
Boatyard Beer Fest (October 19)
Introducing Boatyard Eats' first-ever Boatyard Beer Fest! Come for the wide selection of craft brews, stay for the Halloween festivities. Kids under 12 are free and get to experience trick-or-treating, balloon artists, and face and pumpkin painting for the perfect Halloween celebration.
Halloween in Huntersville (October 19)
Join the Huntersville Recreation Center in their annual Halloween in Huntersville celebration! Enjoy local craft vendors, food trucks, balloon twisters, airbrush tattoo stands, bounce houses, and even a Halloween egg dash with 23,000 candy-filled eggs! Come inside the recreation center to take part in their costume contest, Dracula dodgeball, balling with the Boogieman, and even a maze!
Halloween Havoc Costume Party (October 19)
Tropicana Sports Bar in Cornelius is hosting this year's Halloween Havoc Costume Party! Enjoy this free event with live music by local artist Ryan Trotti, and come dressed up in your favorite costume for a chance to win the costume contest! Dance the night away and enjoy the creepiest night of the season.
Fall Fest 2019 Beer Festival (October 20)
Cornelius Draft House and Bottle Shop and Harvey's Cornelius host this annual fall beer festival. Enjoy live music from local bands and over 12 local beer, wine, and cider vendors to choose from, so be sure to try all the seasonal selections during the best season for craft beer! This event is free to the public, and portions go to scholarships and leadership efforts and the Lake Norman Kiwanis Club to help with local children's needs.
Davidson's Halloween March (October 25)
The Town of Davidson is hosting their annual Davidson's Halloween March! Come out and enjoy trick-or-treating in Downtown Davidson. Starting at 5 pm, families line up at the town hall in preparation to march down Main Street and trick-or-treat at the many shops and organizations along the block. Come dressed as your best superhero, princess, monster or celebrity for this pre-Halloween festivity.
Voodoo on the Bayou (October 26)
Boatyard Eats and K 104.7 are hosting the music-filled Halloween party of the year! Voodoo on the Bayou features music from New Orleans based rock band "Cowboy Mouth". Come out, listen to music, and come dressed in your best Halloween costume for the chance to win cash prizes for Best Couples and Best Overall costume.
Halloween Daze & Spooky Knights (October 26-27)
Why not trick-or-treat at the Carolina Renaissance Festival? Halloween Daze & Spooky Knights' two-day Halloween celebration boasts over 100 locations to visit for the ultimate trick-or-treating experience. When you're tired of trick-or-treating, both children and adults can enter in the Halloween Costume Contest for the chance to win two return tickets and other fun prizes! Don't forget the live entertainment - the Knights of the Living Dead zombie jousting challenge happens three times a day. To make it even better, all children 12 and under can enjoy free admission on this special Halloween weekend!
Spooky Science (October 31)
This year, Discovery Place Kids - Huntersville is hosting a special kind of event. Guests will get the chance to enter the Secret Lab in order to conduct some seriously spooky experiments and enjoy some sweet treats - all while learning a bit about science and chemistry.
