‘Tis that time of the year again! Whether you’re looking to get festive inside or you want to bask in the holiday spirit outdoors, Lake Norman has you covered with a cornucopia of winter and holiday events guaranteed to give you those warm fuzzy feelings.
There is no shortage of events for family fun, holiday entertainment and of course plenty of shopping between Davidson, Huntersville and Cornelius.
Shopping
Instead of doing all of your holiday shopping in crowded malls make time to stop by some of the local holiday markets to pick up some eclectic and hand-crafted gifts.
In Davidson you're sure to find a lot of unique items offered by a variety of vendors at the Rumor Mill Market Holiday Bazaar happening on November 10. If you like your shopping with a side of food and entertainment then stop by the 4th Annual Christmas in Cornelius Artisan Market happening at the Oak Street Mill on December 2. This event will have over 80 local artists and craftsmen so we encourage you to grab some gifts for yourself too!
Family Fun
You won't have to worry about any fighting with these family-friendly events everyone is sure to agree on.
Kick off the Christmas season with Santa Paws in the Park, an event that truly includes everyone in the family, including your fur babies! Happening in Robbins Park in Cornelius on November 17, your dog will get to take photos with Santa and you'll even have the opportunity to shop for all of your pet's Christmas gifts!
Instead of spending your Black Friday circling the mall parking lot looking for a good spot spend the day being transported to the 1800's at the Historic Latta Plantation's Victorian Christmas event. This event will be taking place the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving and will feature historic Christmas decor, clothing and traditions. The sights and sounds of Christmas set against the backdrop of this historic plantation are sure to spark the holiday spirit in family members of all ages.
Spend a day surrounded by all things holiday at Christmas in Davidson, an event that spans Downtown Davidson. This event will be happening November 29 through December 1 and will have plenty of shopping and entertainment. You can even take in the holiday lights while enjoying a hay or carriage ride!
Start December off right by getting festive at the 36th annual North Mecklenburg Christmas Parade. This parade will be happening on December 1 and will start in Davidson and end in Cornelius. There will be plenty of community cheer to go around at this exciting event featuring local high school bands, community groups and even horses!
Get bundled up, sit back and be amazed as you watch boat after boat pass by decked out in the brightest and most showstopping parade on the lake. On the evening of December 8 The Peninsula Yacht Club will be hosting its Lighted Boat Parade where you can sit lakeside while enjoying the spectacular sights of floating holiday scenes and lights.
If that doesn't give you your fill of nautical holiday cheer then stop by the Lake Norman Lighted Boat Parade happening just one week later on December 15. This parade will run from Blythe Landing to Ramsey Creek Park and end with an appearance by Santa at the Duke Energy Explorium.
Holiday Entertainment
When you want to leave the holiday entertaining to somebody else for a change you can leave it to these amazing holiday shows happening this season. On November 26 and 28 Davidson College will be holding their annual crowd-pleasing Holiday Gala. Everyone is sure to be entertained by beloved holiday songs performed by the Davidson College orchestra, jazz band, choir and more.
Perfect for the whole family, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, is a play that combines classic Christmas elements with loads of hilarious mayhem. Your belly will shake like Santa’s while you laugh your way through this comedy filled with traditional carols and memorable characters happening at the Armour Street Theatre November 29 through December 16.
