Dinner will be prepared by Executive Chef Scott Hollingsworth of Rare Roots Hospitality, live music from the Backyard Brothers, silent auction and wine pull. The goal is to raise $50,000 for soup kitchen operations, as well as the Summer Bag Lunch Program, which provides a bag lunch to students who normally receive free or reduced lunch during the school year, but who are at-risk of going hungry during the summer months when school is not in session.
Angels and Sparrows Soup Kitchen is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. They provide a hot meal every weekday, including holidays, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., to anyone in need. They are celebrating the 10th anniversary providing meals to those in need in the Huntersville, Davidson, Cornelius, and unincorporated north Mecklenburg county areas. Last year, more than 50,000 meals were served to the neighbors in need – this number included 17,000 bag lunches to at-risk youth.
