Whether you're a consumer or a connoisseur, join us as we uncork the blancs and bubblies, the merlots and malbecs, from our North Carolina's fertile soils, North Carolina also ranks among the top five states in the country as a destination for culinary tourism according to a 2007 Travel Industry Association survey. With 100 wineries and vineyards, ranking seventh (7th) in wine production and tenth (10th) in grape production nationally, North Carolina wineries and vineyards provide a compelling reason to visit our state. Even better is that the Yadkin Valley and several locations are an easy day trip from the Lake Norman region.
The Tarheel wine industry shares centers on the sweet native muscadines and European-style vinifera grapes such as chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon and merlot. Our wine industry is made up of small business owners, entrepreneurs and farmers.
