Town of Davidson
Davidson is a charming, Southern college town. Davidson was founded in 1837, with the establish
ment of Davidson College which remains a vital part to the town's identity today. In 2011, Davidson was awarded its first Tree City USA designation. Davidson one of just 72 communities in North Carolina and just 3,000 nationwide to receive the award. In 2004, Davidson was a Smart Growth Award winner for Overall Excellence in town planning and design, the main street of Davidson offers a variety of shops, restaurants, wide sidewalks and a public library. Davidson is pedestrian and bicycle friendly, so take a walk around the town and enjoy Davidson's more than 12 miles of greenways and bike lanes, parks, national arboretum, and beautiful flowers throughout town.
Davidson has long been known among residents and visitors as pedestrian-friendly, in September 2011 Davidson was given official recognition for that reputation as a Walk Friendly Community - Bronze Level.

- Davidson Community Calendar is a free calendar site that Davidson businesses and nonprofit organizations can use to promote their events. It will also serve as an online gathering place for residents and visitors alike to get the scoop on events taking place in town. Organizations can log on and manage their events for free, and citizens can visit the site to search for information on upcoming events and to view a host of featured events, from municipal meetings to local festivals and activities to Davidson College events. All visitors are encouraged to view the "How to Use This Site" page when visiting the site for the first time.
- Explore Davidson is a visitor's and business website that promotes businesses in Davidson, offers relocation information for potential businesses, and highlights events and activities that are a draw for visitors. It is a visitor and tourism outreach tool and a venue through which the town will promote and seek out new economic development opportunities. The site also provides maps, photos and directories so people can locate town businesses easily. There are sample itineraries listed under the "Things to Do" tab that will rotate so that all Davidson businesses will be featured. The featured business story on the homepage will also rotate on a regular basis.

- VLN Board of Directors' town representative is appointed by the town Mayor for each Fiscal Year (July 1 - June 30), and serves a one-year term.
