Looking for a fun family outing to get out of the house this summer? Family movie nights are back in Lake Norman and they are the best way to enjoy the beautiful warm nights. Leave your normal Netflix routine at home and come out for an unforgettable experience. All of these outdoor movies are free but remember to bring a blanket or chair!
Lights, Camera, Birkdale
Birkdale Village is playing films on the jumbo screen on select Saturdays on the Plaza. Movies start at 7:30pm but come early because seating is first come, first serve. And don't forget to bring blankets & chairs.

No outside food, beverage, or coolers are allowed, but takeout from their restaurants is permitted. Concierge can even pick up your food from participating Birkdale Village restaurants at no extra charge! Just contact Concierge by 4pm on Fridays to place your order with them via phone. Then all food orders will be available for pick up on Saturday at the Concierge Booth located on the backside of the stage at 6pm. Participating restaurants include Red Rocks Cafe, Bad Daddy's Burger Bar, Brixx Wood Fired Pizza, and Brown Bag Seafood Co.
Outdoor Cinema Series
The Outdoor Cinema Series by Cornelius Parks and Recreation has returned this summer. The movies will be displayed on an inflatable "blimp" screen and takes place at various parks in Cornelius. Gates open at 6:30 pm and the movies begin at dusk (approximately 8:30 pm). Come early to enjoy family friendly activities like lawn games and more. Concessions will be available from food trucks and local beer vendors.
OUTDOOR CINEMA SERIES 2024 DATES:
- May 4 – "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" (cancelled due to inclement weather. A rescheduled date TBD)
- October 26 – "TBD" at Bailey Road Park (Halloween Treat Trail prior! Pre-registration required)
Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets and are welcome to bring their own coolers and picnic baskets to snack on while you watch! If weather conditions are in doubt, please call Cornelius’ Weather Hotline at (704) 896-2460, ext. 290, or check their social media.
Movies in the Park
Movies in the Park takes place on the 2nd Friday of each summer month at Veterans Park in Downtown Huntersville. All movies begin at dusk so bring your blankets and lawn chairs for an evening under the stars!

Our Town Cinemas & Taphouse
Although this is not an outdoor movie experience, Our Town Cinemas has been a beloved part of Davidson since 2009, but may eventually come to a close this year. On the bright side, you can continue catching all of your favorite movies for the summer season! View their website to see what's showing now and enjoy the boutique cinema experience while you can!
