Walk, bike, run, or hike! Our local parks offer paved and unpaved trails for cyclists. The Lake Norman region has greenways connecting each town as well as trailways that are part of the Carolina Thread Trail, and many roads are cycle-friendly with marked bike lanes.
Recently, the Town of Davidson was named a bike-friendly community by the League of American Bicyclists (2010-2014). The Davidson's Kincaid Trail located at the end of South Street in Davidson follows an approximately three-mile course, and is the official marking of the South Prong Greenway as part of the Carolina Thread Trail system. The Carolina Thread Trail is a regional network of greenways and trails that will reach 15 counties and 2.3 million citizens. The trail preserves our natural areas and is a place for exploration of nature, culture, science and history, family adventures and celebrations of friendship.
