As a bustling and always evolving community, Lake Norman experiences constant growth in the towns of Cornelius, Davidson, and Huntersville. These developments continue to attract new businesses and residents due to strategic planning. Whether it's a new favorite coffee spot or upgraded infrastructure, the community continues to thrive from the planned developments. Here are some of the new and upcoming projects happening in Lake Norman!
Parks
Legion Park
Since May 2025, there have been a few renovations at Legion Park. Upgrades like the newly ADA-compliant playground, a new look for the baseball fields, and the inclusion of batting cages. In addition to this makeover, a new drainage system has been installed, increasing capacity and enabling the area to accommodate any future development. As part of the project, a permanent pond was built to help with water drainage issues.
Parham Park
In 2024, a new kayak launch construction was started at Parham Park, and is still in production. It was originally projected to be completed by early 2025, but there have been no new developments on its construction timeline. The total cost of this project will be $255,000, and the production is currently waiting on approval from federal review.

Eastfield Park
Phase 1 for Mecklenburg County's new park is expected to begin construction in late 2025 and is anticipated to be finished in early 2027. Eastfield Park's master plan includes the details for the new 1140-acre "adventure park" coming to Huntersville-- the park will maintain the natural features and wildlife of the property while encouraging active play.
River Run Soccer and Diamond Fields
As of August 2024, there have been no new updates on the River Run Soccer and T-Ball diamond fields. This project is still in the study phase, and conceptual plans are being made. Only 3 miles from Downtown Historic Davidson, River Run provides access to public parks and fields while also maintaining that small-town charm.
Greenways
Torrence Trib. II / Rosewood Meadow Ln
In partnership with the Town of Huntersville, the development extension of the Torrence Creek Greenway will extend by about a mile from Rosewood Meadow Lake at the Huntersville Gateway Park. The project will connect neighborhoods along the North and South sides of the creek and will serve as an important regional connection to the Carolina Thread Trail. It is predicted to be finished by the end of 2025.

South Prong Clark
The design of the South Prong Clarks Creek Greenway is still in the early stages, and is planned to extend from Huntersville-Concord Hwy to Monocacy Blvd. The 2-mile greenway will pass through Vermillion and Mirabella subdivisions, and is a part of a stream restoration effort by Charlotte Mecklenburg Stormwater Services.

McDowell Creek
In the summer of 2025, the McDowell Creek Greenway will add on to it's existing path from Sam Furr Rd to Gilead Rd. This extension would connect Cornelius and Huntersville, giving visuals of connecting neighborhoods, parks, retail areas, and schools. It will also connect to the Torrence Creek Greenway.
Establishments
The Serve Pickleball + Kitchen
Coming soon, a new sports club will be hitting the town of Cornelius. Featuring a bar and pickleball courts, The Serve Pickleball + Kitchen will be located off of Chartown Dr and I-77. There will be 16 courts in total-- 10 being indoor and 6 outdoor.
Atrium Health Hospital
The Atrium Health Lake Norman hospital is now open! Located in Cornelius off Westmoreland Rd and State Highway 21, The hospital features 36 patient care beds. A third of the beds are dedicated to women's health, a labor unit, an on-site pharmacy, and an emergency room.
Royal Bliss Brewing
Later in 2025, this popular Charlotte brewing company will add another location. Royal Bliss Brewery will have indoor and outdoor seating at their new establishment, and will be located in Cornelius, on West Catawba Ave. The brewery is still under construction.
