Duke Energy’s EnergyExplorium offers educational and fun activities for pre-arranged groups of 10 or more who interested in learning more about electricity generation and Lake Norman. The Energy Explorium also offers a self-directed learning environment for groups of all ages plus presentations on nuclear energy and basic electricity. There are several exhibits on subjects ranging from the development of the Catawba River and nuclear energy. The EnergyExplorium is open by appointment only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. There's also a mile-long nature trail that borders Lake Norman and picnic shelter for visitors, as well as a fishing area. These facilities are open to the public from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
