The North Carolina Transportation Museum interprets inland transportation from the 1800's to the present day. Tour the buildings and grounds that once were Southern Railroad's largest repair facility. Train rides daily April 1-Labor Day, Sat. & Sun. through mid Dec. Guided tours available for schools and specialty groups. Hours: Apr.-Oct. Mon.-Sat. 9AM-5PM, Sun. 1PM-5PM; Nov.-Mar. Tues.-Sat. 10AM-4PM, Sun. 1PM-4PM. Closed Mondays and major holidays.
