Pinky's Westside Grill
If you are craving burgers, fries, and classic southern comfort food, Pinky’s Westside Grill is an absolute must-visit. Founded by Chef Greg Auten and Andy Cauble, Pinky’s launched in 2010 inside a converted Volkswagen repair shop, topped with an iconic VW Bug mounted right on the roof. Their original Charlotte location quickly rose in popularity, leading to the opening of their Huntersville location in 2013.
Pinky gained national fame after being featured on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, earning a second visit from the show in 2020.
Host, Guy Fieri, even declared their signature "Triple G Burger" one of the best burgers he’s ever tasted on the show!

Kindred is a dream come true for husband-and-wife duo Joe and Katy Kindred. The couple first met in Chicago and honed their skills in San Francisco, where Joe worked as a chef and Katy as a sommelier. After starting a family, they returned to Joe’s hometown of Davidson to bring their dream restaurant to life. Their vision quickly caught national attention, earning high praise from major publications like Bon Appétit, The New York Times, and The Charlotte Observer.
The space seamlessly blends classic southern charm with an upscale, modern flair. Katy, who also leads the restaurant's design, crafted an environment that feels exceptionally warm and inviting, offering everything from sun-drenched corner window booths and a sophisticated bar to a charming outdoor patio and on-site fresh herb garden. The menu changes daily to reflect the best seasonal ingredients available. Highlights include their signature crispy oysters, hand-crafted pastas like squid ink conchiglie, and, of course, their famous milkbread that guests rave about long after leaving.
Kindred is currently closed for renovations. The team looks forward to reopening in the fall and welcoming everyone back.
Hello, Sailor
Set right on the water in Cornelius, Hello, Sailor is one of Lake Norman’s most unique lakefront dining experiences. Created by the same talented team behind Kindred, this bright and open spot blends laid-back waterfront dining with retro charm. Boaters can tie up at the dock beside the restaurant and walk right in for a meal, while dog owners can bring their four-legged friends along to relax on either of the two sun-soaked outdoor terraces.
The menu offers an elevated take on classic seafood and casual favorites. Standout dishes include their crisp grandfather pickles, hushpuppies made from Jimmy Red corn, the popular spicy chicken sandwich, and a classic popcorn shrimp basket served with beef fat fries.
These pair effortlessly with their cocktail menu featuring drinks like the Yacht Club. Be sure to save room for dessert, where unique treats like Smoked Apple Pie Milkbread and rich key lime cheesecake offer the perfect sweet finish to a day on the lake.
Kindred and Hello, Sailor were both recognized as recommended restaurants in the 2025 Michelin Guide for the American South. The restaurants were also featured on Bravo’s Top Chef, which was filmed in the Charlotte region this year, with Joe and Katy Kindred appearing in episode 5 and Hello, Sailor hosting the chefs and judges in episode 14.
