What's Up Watersports offers paddleboard and kayak rentals for those looking to get an amazing workout or go for a leisurely paddle and enjoy the scenery. They also offer jet ski and boat rentals to fit all your water sport needs! 

Mountain Island Lake Paddle Co. offers paddleboard and kayak rentals Fri- Sun for an amazing day out on the lake. To make it easy, they will drop off your equipment at Latta Nature Preserve's Gar Creek Kayak launch area so you can be certain of a stress-free day!  They also offer different SUPs and kayaks to fit the users, whether they are youth, beginner, or a veteran.  

Moose Paddleboard Company offers paddleboard rentals and they will take the stress off of you and deliver to you so you can enjoy a fun and stress-free day out on the lake. 

 

Waterfront Parks

 

If you're looking to enjoy Lake Norman without renting a boat, two local favorite parks are Jetton Park and Ramsey Creek Park. Jetton Park offers nearly two miles of scenic shoreline, paved walking trails, picnic areas, and a sunning beach where visitors can relax and take in panoramic lake views. Just a few miles away, Ramsey Creek Park features a public beach, ADA-accessible fishing pier, walking trails, and open green space, making it a favorite destination for swimming, picnicking, and spending a day by the water.

Latta Nature Preserve offers a free kayak launch with an ADA-compliant ramp. Numerous fishing opportunities are available and anglers ages 16+ must have an NC state fishing license. Fishing rods are also available to rent at the Quest Center for free.

For visitors bringing their own watercraft, Blythe Landing serves as one of Lake Norman's premier boating access points. The park features multiple boat launches, floating docks, fishing areas, and ample parking, providing convenient access to the lake for boaters, anglers, kayakers, and paddleboarders ready to begin their next adventure.

Operation Safe Lake

No matter how you choose to experience Lake Norman, taking a few simple precautions can help ensure a fun and stress-free day on the water. To help promote safe recreation throughout the summer, the Cornelius Police Department recently launched Operation Safe Lake, an educational campaign focused on boating and water safety. The initiative encourages visitors to wear properly fitted life jackets, supervise children near the water, monitor weather conditions before heading out, and never operate a boat while impaired. By staying aware of your surroundings and following basic safety practices, you can spend less time worrying and more time enjoying everything Lake Norman has to offer.
