Huntersville is full of history, and it’s no surprise to hear of buildings and sites deeply rooted in the community. But the Hunter House & Gardens steps up the game by taking their history and revitalizing it in the present. Hunter House & Gardens is a restaurant and event venue located in downtown Huntersville and has been a special historic location for years and will be for years to come!

In 1890, the Ranson and Hunter families joined together in marriage.

These two crucial families were already well-known and active in their community.  The marriage started a legacy that would continue to build on their reputation of founding Huntersville. It was in 1914 when William J. Ranson and Ellen Hunter Ranson celebrated their new house and the New Year.

The Hunter House, then known as the Ranson House, was deemed to be the first house in Huntersville. It was considered a modern house by standards back in the day, having a telephone, electricity, and even indoor plumbing. The farmhouse was a Colonial Revival Style with a wrap-around veranda. Its 3200 acres were used as a dairy farm and host for many parties.

Hunter House Owner

The current owner is also named...Ellen!

In 2018, the Loncz Family bought the historic white house and never imagined that it would be transformed into a farm-to-table restaurant. After owning an ad agency for almost 25 years, Ellen Loncz wanted to utilize her event planning expertise by hosting her own events and doing something her family would enjoy. 6 years later, she has reimagined what all this venue could be used for and now acts as a restaurant and home to a litany of different types of events.

Along with a name change, the Hunter House is currently used as a restaurant.

But the place hasn’t lost its roots; the original house and architecture still stand in good condition. Along with maintaining its fields and garden, the space can be rented out for semi-private and private events as well as it is available for dinner. Open 4 nights a week for dinner only, Hunter House & Gardens can make an unbelievable date night with that special someone. With intimate dining tables and a menu of dishes with locally sourced ingredients and specialty cocktails, your night out at the Hunter House is guaranteed to be special. The Executive Chef, Justin Morris takes dishes that you are familiar with and have enjoyed your entire life, and likes to add his personal unexpected twist that takes a whole new approach on regular dishes. Made with locally sources ingredients from local farms, like Spring Water Farm, and their very own garden.
